JM400A Rubber Tapping Knife Sharpening Stone Black
Products Description:
Sharpening stones (Water stones or Whetstones) are used to sharpen the edges of steel tools and implements through grinding and honing. Though "whetstone is often mistaken as a reference to the water sometimes used to lubricate such stones, the term is based on the word "whet", which means to sharpen a blade, not on the word "wet".
Sharpening stones come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and material compositions. Stone may be flat for working flat edges or shaped for more complex edges. It may be natural or artificial stones. Artificial stones usually come in the form of a bonded abrasive composed of a ceramic such as silicon carbide (carborundum) or of aluminium oxide (corundum). Bonded abrasives provide a faster cutting action than natural stones. They are commomly available as a double-sided block with a coarse grit on one side and a fine grit on the other enabling one stone to satisfy the basic requirements of sharpening. Natural stones are typically formed of quartz, such as novaculite.
Stones are usually available in various grades, which prefer to the grit size of the abrasive particles in the stone. Grit size is given as a number, which indicates the spatial density of the particles. A higher number denotes a higher density and therefore smaller particles, which leads to a finer finish of the surface of the polished object.
When the block is intended for installation on a bench it is called a bench stone. Small, portable stones are called pocket stones. Being smaller, they are more portable than bench stone but present difficulty in maintaining a consistent angle and pressure when drawing the stone along larger blades. However, they still can form a good edge. Frequently, fine grained pocket stones are used for honing, especially "in the field".

Chinese knives are sold under three classifications: Slicers, Choppers and Cleavers.
The general distinction lies in the thickness of the blade. Slicers have the thinnest and sharpest blades.
Slicers may have the same shape as choppers or they may have less width.
Slicers are used for cutting vegetables, mincing and slicing thin strips of boneless meat for stir frying.
The thin blade makes slicers unsuitable for chopping any bones.

♦(C, carbon) is the most important alloying element in steel. With increased carbon content, steel becomes harder and stronger.
♦(Cr, chromium) is added to the steel to increase resistance to oxidation. The resistance of steel increases as more chromium is added.
♦(Mo, molybdenum) can promote gain-refinement in steel. It used efficiently in steel to improve hardenability and strength.
♦(V, vanadium) is characterised by high fire-resistance and is added to steel as a gain-refining agent. Vanadium is added to steel for strengthening purposes.

JM506 Wooden Shovel 390mm
Products Description:
Wooden utensils is commonly used in food preparation, cooking or baking. Some of them are used for stirring many different kinds of food and beverages, especially soups and casseroles during preparation. Wooden utensils generally preferred for cooking because of their versatility. Some cooks prefer to use wooden utensils because they do not transfer heat as much as metal utensils. Unlike metal utensils, they can also be safely used without scratching non-stick pans.
Wooden utensils can be treated to protect from cold liquid absorption with coconut or mineral oil. Edible drying oil such as hempseed oil, walnut oil, and flax oil are used to create a more durable finish. For best results, drying oils should be given adequate time to polymerize after application before the utensils is used. Other vegetable oils should be avoided because they will undergo rancidification and leech into food during use. If the wood grain rises up after boiling or washing, a light sanding and application of coconut oil will prevent the utensils from becoming fuzzy and harboring bacteria.

JM797 Red Wing Corkscrew Wine Opener
Products Description:
A corkscrew is a tool for drawing corks from wine bottles, beer bottles and other household bottles. In its traditional form, a corkscrew simply consists of a pointed metallic helix (often called the "worm") attached to a handle, which the user screws into the cork and pulls to extract it.
A wing corkscrew, sometimes called a butterfly corkscrew or angel corkscrew, has two levers, one on either side of the worm. As the worm is twisted into the cork, the levers are raised. Pushing down the levers draws the cork from the bottle in one smooth motion. The most common design has a rack and pinion connecting the levers to the body. The head of the central shaft is frequently modified to form a bottle opener, increasing the utility of the device.

It is useful when preparing particularly tough cuts of steak, and works well when broiling or frying the meat. It is also used to "pound out" dishes such as chicken-fried steak, to make it wider and thinner.
